Alleged Dorm Sexual Assault at MSU Mankato, Safety Alert Issued

(Mankato, MN) – A personal safety alert has been issued at Minnesota State University Mankato over an alleged sexual assault.

Campus Security says it received a report from a person, accusing an acquaintance of unwanted sexual contact. The incident is alleged to have occurred on Tuesday in the McElroy Residence Community.

This is the second personal safety alert to be issued at MSU so far this school year.

The first was issued in mid-August after University Security took a report of an alleged sexual assault that happened in the McElroy Residence Community last spring.  The suspect in that case has been identified and is a student.

The investigation of that alleged assault continues and as of yet, no charges have been filed.

In 2015, there were 16 reported sexual assaults at MSU Mankato.

The 2016 numbers are due out later this year.
