Amboy Woman Accused of Abusing Kids, Using Broom Handle

(Mankato, MN) – A 49-year-old woman is facing a long list of criminal charges for allegedly abusing her children, an 11-year-old son and a 16-year-old daughter.

Kitty Karol Cumbee of Amboy is charged with 4 counts of domestic assault, 2 counts of malicious punishment of a child, 2 counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, 1 count of false imprisonment and 1 count of stalking.

According to the complaint, one video provided to police shows Cumbee hitting the girl’s head with a broom, “swinging it fast and hard.” Another shows the boy crying after allegedly being hit in the head with a cellphone. Cumbee also allegedly put her son in a headlock until he was struggling to breath.

It’s alleged that she also got mad at her daughter for “coming between her and her vodka” and called the girl a “f*cking c*nt.”

Cumbee’s husband told police that the verbal and physical abuse had become so bad that he and the kids had moved out of their house and into a camper.

Police say Cumbee, who had recently spent about a month in treatment, had a blood alcohol content of .30 when she was detained on July 31st. In talking with officers, Cumbee said that she was the victim and that she would never hurt her kids, although she admitted that she has a big drinking problem and she blacks out when a lot of things happen.
