National Bridal Dress Retailer Bankrupt, Some Locals Scrambling For New Dresses

(New Ulm, MN) –  Talk about adding to the stress of planning a wedding.

Dress retailer Alfred Angelo Bridal filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation in Florida on Friday and abruptly closed its doors. The dressmaker has 60 stores nationwide and sells at 1,400 other locations, including a handful in south central Minnesota.

At Sisters Bridal and Tux in New Ulm, staff says they’ve heard nothing from the company (as no local shops have) and they’re working to get those impacted into different dresses. At Blue Box Bridal in Fairmont, staff says just one wedding party was impacted and that was with their bridesmaid dresses.

At The Silhouette in Easton, owner Joline Pearson says they also only had one customer impacted, and she has been very understanding about the situation as they look to find her a new bridal gown.

Still, Pearson says they’ve had to pull about 100 bride, bridesmaid and flower girl dresses from their store because they can no longer order them, although she notes they still have a wide selection from other designers available and will be looking to add another line.

According to the Alfred Angelo website, Valerie’s Bridal in Mankato also carries their collections.
