Confused Driver Causes Head On Crash on Hwy 14

(Mankato, MN) – The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a car crash with injuries that happened at 12:45 Wednesday afternoon in Mankato.

Authorities say the driver of a GMC Envoy was northbound on Highway 169 and took the eastbound Highway 14 ramp. The driver became confused and turned west onto eastbound 14, causing a head-on collision with a Plymouth Neon.

The driver of the Neon, 63-year-old Kathryn Kay Veroeven of St. Clair, was taken to the MCHS Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver and the passenger in the Envoy were not injured. They’ve been identified as 86-year-old Charles Frank Wagner and 75-year-old Shirley Jean Wagner of Mound.

Assisting the State Patrol were Mankato Fire and PD, North Mankato PD and Gold Cross Ambulance.
