First Ever Victorious Duo in 10 Pound Pizza Challenge

(Madelia, MN) – Many had tried in the past and all had fallen, but now for the first time ever, the Mega Fox Challenge has been taken on and beaten.

On Tuesday night, the team of Jeremiah Forster and Stephanie Wu became the first duo to completely eat the 30-inch, ten pound, one-topping Mega Fox Pizza at Fox’s Pizza Den in Madelia. The challenge is to eat the pizza in an hour or less. They were done in just over 30 minutes.

It should be noted that Forster and Wu are not amateurs. Between the two of them, they’ve beaten more than 250 food challenges across the country.

Forster doesn’t normally compete anymore, but decided to take on this challenge as a tribute to his grandfather, Charles Haug, who passed away in May at the age of 94. Haug was born and raised in Madelia and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in WWII.

The Mega Fox challenge started in the summer of 2016 and despite attempts by 17 previous duos, Foster and Wu were the first to accomplish the weighty goal.

Those who do come out victorious get the pizza for free, along with free mugs and t-shirts and their picture on the wall of fame. If you fail, the pizza costs $40 plus tax, but your drinks during the contest are free and you get free mugs as well.

Those who think they have the courage and stomach room to take on the Mega Fox need to call ahead 2 to 3 days in advance, so staff can get to work on preparing the gigantic pizza, which is also offered sans challenge for dine-in or take-out with advance notice.

For those who would rather challenge themselves with a hamburger, then the Eagle’s Nest in Eagle Lake is the place to go, with the well-known Duke Burger on the menu.

Often shared by a table of diners, the burger is two pounds of meat and a pound of bun, and if that’s not enough to whet your appetite – you can add cheese (8 slices) and bacon (6 slices).

There are no prizes for being able to eat the Duke Burger solo…except of course your highly satisfied stomach and the admiration of friends and family.
