Free Sober Rides Home Tonight in Mankato & More

(Mankato, MN) – The Mankato Department of Public Safety says it will have extra patrols on the roads this weekend, in search of intoxicated drivers.

In Minnesota, St. Patrick’s Day is the second leading holiday for DWI arrests with an average of 4.6 per hour.

To avoid ending up spending the holiday in jail, Commanders Dan Schisel says if you are going to celebrate on the town with adult beverages make you plan for a safe and sober ride home.

One option in Blue Earth County is the Joyride program, which will offer free rides in Mankato Friday night through the Kato Independent Shuttle Service.

The free rides will be available from 1opm until 2:30am, covering a 10-mile radius around the cities of Mankato, North Mankato, Eagle Lake, Lake Crystal, St. Clair and Madison Lake.

The number to call for pick up is 507-388-5477.
