Ice Fishing on Madison Lake: $10,000 in Prizes Up for Grabs Saturday

(Madison Lake, MN) – Prizes worth more than $10,000 will be up for grabs this weekend with the first ever “Mad Bobber” ice fishing contest on Madison Lake.

Formerly known as the “Big Bobber,” the fishing contest will be Saturday, February 10th, from Noon to 3pm and hosted by the Madison Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.

“This event is designed to celebrate Madison Lakes’ longstanding tradition of ice fishing and our year-round commitment to being an outdoor friendly community,” said Madison Lake Mayor Ken Reichel. “We invite all, near and far, to come and fish with us and to enjoy our renowned lakes and outdoor resources.”

Contestants will be able to participate on the entire lake in wheel houses, portable houses or open-air fishing abiding by 2018 MN DNR fishing guidelines. Only fish caught during the Noon to 3 PM contest hours are available for entry.

Prizes will be awarded in five species specific categories (Walleye, Northern, Bass (LM, White), Panfish (Crappie, Sunfish, Perch) and an all-inclusive category that includes non-listed species indigenous to Madison Lake.

Additionally, twenty-five prizes will be awarded as door prizes. Raffles and other promotions will also be offered.

Entry fee for fishing is $20.00 for adults and $5.00 for age 15 and under.
