Mankato Police: Nicollet Man Accidentally Shoots Self

(Mankato, MN) – A 52-year-old man was hospitalized Sunday after accidentally shooting himself. The injuries to Matthew Drummer of Nicollet were not life threatening.

The Mankato Department of Public Safety says officers were called to a home in the 200 block of West 8th Street just before 2:00 Sunday afternoon.

According to police, Drummer told them he and his adult nephew were looking at the .380 with a magazine in it, when it accidentally discharged and the bullet went into his left leg.  Drummer bandaged the leg himself  and was waiting outside for the first responders when they arrived.

Drummer was taken by ambulance to the MCHS Hospital in Mankato.
