Record Employment Within Grasp for Mankato-North Mankato

(Mankato, MN) – Record employment is within grasp for the seventh year in a row for the Mankato-North Mankato Metropolitan Statistical Area.

According to just released figures from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, employment in Blue Earth and Nicollet counties grew 1.2-percent over the last year. That’s the the fifth straight month of year over year job gains, and equates to about 700 more people working now compared to September of 2016.

“With one quarter to go in 2017, employment in our region is on pace to again set an all-time high. Traditionally, employment in the fourth quarter goes up,” said Greater Mankato Growth President Jonathan Zierdt.

The biggest driver of the job growth in Mankato-North Mankato has been manufacturing, which has hit employment highs not seen since 2008 over the past three months.
