Southern Minnesota Christmas Festival Saturday in Mankato

(Mankato, MN) – The 6th Annual Southern Minnesota Christmas Festival and “Toys for Tots” Kick-off is tomorrow (Saturday). The free and family-friendly festival will be held in the Grand Hall at the Verizon Center in Mankato.

Kids can meet and get a picture with Santa. There will be free crafts and other fun kids’ activities, along with horse drawn trolley rides and live music and performances from the likes of the Mankato Children’s Chorus, West Connection, Mankato Ballet Company, Switch Road Band, Tess Erickson, Cooper Fuller, Aliya Mukamuri & Lauren Senden.

There will also be food available and dozens of local vendors on hand for those wanting to get an early start on their Christmas shopping.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy or a monetary donation for the Marine Toys for Tots program. At last year’s Southern Minnesota Christmas Festival, more than $2,900 was raised and 513 main toys were collected, along with 215 stocking stuffers and 19 books.

The local chapter of Toys for Tots provides gifts for less fortunate children in Blue Earth, Nicollet and Waseca counties.
