ST. PAUL: Avian flu update

ST. PAUL – 5/6/15

A quick avian flu update from the Minnesota Dept. of Health; the state emergency operations center was activated to coordinate the ongoing response to the issue to keep it under control as much as possible. Current stats include 82 farms affected with a total of 21 counties. Included in those are ones nearby: Steele, Stearns, Nicollet, Redwood, Watonwan and Le Sueur. That’s racked up to over 5 million birds affected. Legislators are doing their best to accommodate financially, tapping into emergency funds.
