Is Some Yours? MN Has $700-Million in Unclaimed Money

(Mankato, MN) – The state of Minnesota is sitting on hundreds of millions of dollars in unclaimed money and there’s a decent chance that some of it is yours or belongs to someone you know.

Each year, the Minnesota Department of Commerce receives millions of dollars in unclaimed property from businesses and organizations that have lost contact with the owners. At last check, the total value of that unclaimed cash was at around $700-million dollars.

Unclaimed property comes from the likes of dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance claim payments and stocks and bonds.

During the last fiscal year alone (which ended June 30th), around $40-million was returned to its rightful owners across Minnesota.
