Steele County Woman Allegedly Maces Face of State Trooper

(Ellendale, MN) – A 35-year-old woman from Steele County is again facing charges for allegedly assaulting a peace officer.

Melissa Ann Law of Ellendale is accused of spraying mace in the face of a State Trooper on October 6th. It happened as the Trooper was trying to get Law to stop walking on Interstate 35E in St. Paul. The Trooper was taken by ambulance to Regions Hospital for treatment.

This is the second time this year that Law has been accused of assaulting a peace officer.

In March, she allegedly threw a delicious Dairy Queen Blizzard into the face of a police officer who had responded to a domestic dispute involving Law at a grocery store parking lot in Blooming Prairie.

Despite being covered in ice cream, the officer was able to catch up to the fleeing Law and grab her, but she allegedly resisted and fought – and an off-duty officer who came upon the altercation then jumped into the fray.

The two officers were able to get Law in handcuffs as she continued to struggle and kick at them, but they weren’t able to get her into the squad car until a third officer arrived on the scene and helped.

The complaint did not mention the flavor of the DQ Blizzard.
