VIDEO: Mankato Radio DJ Gets Tased

(Mankato, MN) – A radio personality from Mankato got tased by local police Thursday morning, although it wasn’t for breaking the law. He actually volunteered to do it.

Monroe, from afternoons on Z99, was tased by Mankato police to help raise awareness of their upcoming citizens academy.

The citizens academy is a free 8-week course where people can get a look at the inner workings of the Mankato Department of Public Safety. That includes hands-on experiences with things like emergency response, crime scene investigations, firearms and auto extrication.

Participants can also do a police ride-along, and even volunteer to be tased, as some have in the past and Monroe did today.

Classes start September 7th. Applications are due by August 18th and can be found here.

Z99’s Brad Steele had initially volunteered to be the one tased, but had to back out after his wife learned of the plan and told him that he couldn’t.
