Woman Assaults Cop with Delicious DQ Blizzard

(Blooming Prairie, MN) – A 35-year-old woman from Jordan is facing a handful of charges after an alleged assault on police that included a Dairy Queen Blizzard and the need for back-up.

Melissa Ann Law is accused in Steele County District Court of two counts of assault on a peace officer, along with obstructing the legal process and fleeing police.

According to the complaint, an officer was called to a domestic dispute between a man and a woman at a grocery store parking lot in Blooming Prairie on March 23rd.

As the officer was trying to get information on the man and on Law, she took off running and as the officer caught up to her, she threw her DQ Blizzard into the officer’s face and upper body.

Despite being covered in ice cream, the officer was able to catch up to Law and grab her, but she allegedly struggled and resisted and fought – and an off-duty officer who came upon the altercation then jumped into the fray.

The two officers were able to get Law in handcuffs as she continued to struggle and kick at them, but they weren’t able to get her into the squad car until a third officer arrived on the scene and helped.

The complaint does not mention the flavor of the Dairy Queen Blizzard.
