Woman sought in Dodge County death now a suspect in Florida murder

(Mantorville) – The Blooming Prairie woman being sought in connection with her husband’s murder is now a suspect in a second murder.

The Lee County, Florida Sheriff’s Office has identified Riess as a suspect in the shooting death of Pamela Hutchinson of Bradenton, Florida.  Investigators believe that Riess may have killed Hutchinson earlier this week in order to assume her identity.  The Lee County attorney’s office announced charges against Riess in Hutchinson’s death this morning.

Dodge County intends to charge Riess with 2nd degree murder in the death of her husband David Riess, who was found dead in March.  Investigators believe that Riess used the same firearm to murder both her husband and Hutchinson.  There is not believed to be any connection between Lois Riess and Pamela Hutchinson.

Investigators believe that Riess is now driving Hutchinson’s vehicle, a white Acura TL, last seen with Florida license plate Y37TAA.  Hutchinson’s vehicle has been observed in Louisiana and Corpus Christi, Texas in the days since Hutchinson’s death.  Her white Cadillac Escalade was located abandoned in a Florida trailer park earlier this week.

Anyone who has had any recent contact with Riess or has information about her whereabouts is urged to contact the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s tipline at 1-877-996-6222.
