Albert Lea Police searching for man who flashed gun, told victim to come with him

(Albert Lea, MN) – Albert Lea Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man who used a gun to try to force another man from the area where they were playing basketball.

According to a release from the police department,  the suspect approached a 22-year-old man playing basketball on courts at James and Frank Avenues next to the Aquatic Center. After a while, police say, the suspect lifted his shirt and displayed a handgun to the victim, telling him to come with him.

The victim instead fled on foot.  He was not injured during the incident.

The suspect walked back to his vehicle and drove southbound on Frank Avenue.  He is described as a white male in his mid twenties or thirties, about five feet, eight inches tall and about 180 pounds.  His vehicle was described as a silver van with rust along the bottom and white tape on the rear passenger tail light.
