Austin Police investigating fatal shooting

Police say a woman is dead after a shooting over the weekend at an Austin residence.

Officers responded to a 911 call just before 2 a.m. Saturday on the 100 block of 10th St NW. First responders rendered aid to the woman at the scene before transporting her to Mayo Clinic Austin, where she later died.

The woman’s body was taken to the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Rochester for autopsy.  Her name will be released pending family notification and the preliminary autopsy report.

Detectives believe the shooting wasn’t random and there’s no threat to the public.

The incident remains under investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Austin police.
