Blue Earth County accepting applications for business assistance grants

(Mankato, MN) – The Blue Earth County Board of Commissioners approved last week allocating $2 million in economic support to organizations affected by COVID-19.

Small, locally-owned businesses that were adversely affected by COVID-19 can apply for a one-time grant of up to $10,000 to cover expenses for up to three months through Blue Earth County’s Business Assistance Grant Program.

The allocation was part of an investment plan for funds from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES).

Funds can be used for rent payments, mortgage payments, utilities, supplier payments, and other non-payroll business costs.  Reopening costs are also covered, including personal protective equipment, plexiglass barriers, exterior seating, signage, supplies, inventory, and more.

Applications are being accepted now, and are due by September 2, 2020.  Applications received after September 2 will be considered if funds remain.

The application and additional information can be found on the county website.
