(Mankato, MN) – Blue Earth County has issued a no wake restriction following recent heavy rains.

The restriction applies to Lake George, Lake Ballantyne, Duck Luck, and Madison Lake.

A press release from the sheriff’s office says “the restriction has been put in place due to abnormally high water levels on these lakes due to recent rain which has submerged docks and created shoreline erosion concerns.”

“No Wake” is defined by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources as “operation of a watercraft at the slowest possible speed necessary to maintain steerage, but in no case greater than 5 miles per hour.”

Notice of the no wake restriction is posted at public landings for each lake.
