Blue Earth County selects site for public works facility

Blue Earth County has selected a site for the new Public Works facility.
At Monday’s meeting, the Blue Earth County Board of Commissioners authorized the County Administrator Robert Meyer to execute a real estate purchase agreement for a parcel of land located at Stoltzman Rd and Co Rd 90 in Mankato Township.
Pending the resolution of all provisions of the purchase agreement, it will be signed with anticipated construction commencing in 2024.

“After exploring multiple site options and discussing them at various Board Meetings and Work Sessions”, states County Board Chair Vance Stuehrenberg, “the County Board believes this is the best site to serve the future needs of the county.”
Blue Earth County began researching options for a new Public Works facility in 2019 due to the limitations and condition of the existing facility on Map Dr.
In June 2022, the county announced a new site would be built at Stoltzman Road and 200th Street, on the southern outskirts of Mankato. But by September of the same year, the county announced it would look for an alternative site, based on public feedback received at neighborhood engagement meetings.
