Cats rescued from weekend Mankato fire that caused $75k in damages

(Mankato, MN) – No one was injured, but animals were saved from a fire that caused tens of thousands of dollars in damages over the weekend.
Mankato Public Safety responded at 12:14 a.m. Sat morning to the fire at 315 West Pleasant St. The blaze had started in the basement and extended to the first floor, according to a release sent from the city.
The fire was extinguished and three cats rescued from the building.
A working smoke detector alerted residents of the fire, according to the release, which also recommended owners test smoke detectors monthly to ensure the device is functioning properly.
Damages from the fire were estimated at $75,000.
No injuries were reported.
