Charges filed in downtown ‘sucker punch’ assault that sent victim to hospital

A North Mankato man has been charged in connection to an assault at a downtown Mankato bar.

Sean Michael Arnett, 33, is accused of sucker-punching another person at the South Street Saloon Friday, leaving the victim unconscious and requiring hospitalization

Police were dispatched to the bar shortly before midnight, where officers say they found the victim bleeding from the mouth. A number of witnesses witnessed Arnett sucker punch the victim, according to a criminal complaint.

The victim went unconscious for a ‘period of time,’ says the charging document, and was then dragged out of the bar. Arnett fled on foot, according to the complaint.

The victim went unconscious in an officer’s presence multiple times, says the complaint. The victim had to be intubated at an emergency room, and also suffered a chipped tooth, according to the charges.

The complaint says Arnett admitted to striking someone. He’s been charged with felony 3rd-degree assault.
