Charges: Mankato man texted woman death threats

A Mankato man is facing felony charges after he allegedly threatened a woman in text messages.

A warrant has been issued for Rico Lee Ayler, 36, who was charged Monday in Blue Earth County Court with threats of violence and two counts of stalking, all felonies.

A criminal complaint says the victim reported receiving a number of threatening texts from Ayler, who had allegedly taken a transcript of her interviews with police about him and distributed it to people.

“…I’m killing yo ass when I see you so u better keep ducking yo taco and I’ll be ar them buildings…,” Ayler’s text allegedly read.

The victim asked Ayler to leave her alone, according to the complaint.  He allegedly responded with a text that said “I ain’t leaving you alone until yuh dead nd gone shorty mark my words.”

The victim again asked Ayler to leave her alone and he replied: “Yuh gne die real soon shorty,” according to the charging document.

The victim told police she fears Ayler will act out his threats so she took her children to another residence.

Police say a no-contact order between the victim and Ayler in Nicollet County had recently been cancelled, but Ayler had release conditions from a Hennepin County case in which he is prohibited from contacting the victim.

Ayler has a prior domestic violence conviction, according to investigators.
