(Gaylord, MN) – A child is dead after an incident involving a swing set.

It happened on Sunday evening at 7:35 p.m. in Sibley County.

A release sent by the Sibley County Sheriff’s office says a 10-year-old boy was unresponsive after being hit by a swing set at a location about three miles northwest of Le Sueur in Henderson Township at a private residence.

The boy was apparently hit by a swing set or piece of play equipment that had fallen to the ground, according to the release.

Police say the boy suffered severe upper body injuries and was transported to Mayo Clinic Mankato by ambulance where he later died of his injuries.

Assisting the sheriff’s department was the Henderson and Le Sueur police departments, Ridgeview Ambulance, and Le Sueur Fire Department.
