COVID death reported in Blue Earth County

A person in their late 90’s from Blue Earth County was one of 31 deaths reported by the Minnesota Department of Health Wednesday.

It’s the 48th death of the pandemic in the county. MDH says 25 of Wednesday’s reported deaths involved private residents, while six were residents of long-term care or assisted living.  One of the deaths was from November 2020, and two occurred last month.

A hospital capacity report show 800 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19, including 206 in the intensive care unit. 

MDH also reported 2,077 new infections Wednesday.  Here are the counties in Southern Minnesota that are reporting new cases:
