According to the CDC, more than seven million Americans are living with vision loss and the majority are older adults.
“Vision impairment can make it difficult to exercise and socialize,” said Jen Wunderlich, VINE’s Health and Fitness Center Manager. “We wanted to develop a class for people with vision limitations so they could improve their health and also socialize in a safe and supportive environment.”
In development with a Master Trainer of Tai Ji Quan, VINE has created a new Tai Ji Quan for Low Vision class. This 8-week series, specially crafted for individuals with low vision, will help improve their physical health and mental well-being. Classes will be taught by trained instructors who will lead participants with gentle movements in a unique and inclusive manner to help improve their balance and prevent falls.
Tai Ji Quan for Low Vision is free and open to the public. For more information or to register call VINE’s Health and Fitness Center Manager, Jen Wunderlich at (507) 386-5588.
