(North Mankato, MN) – The North Mankato City Council has passed a food and beverage tax in an effort to offset an operating deficit at Caswell Park.

The .5 percent local tax will go into effect on January 1, 2020.

Revenues will go towards maintenance and operations at Caswell Park. The tax is expected to generate roughly $50,000 in revenue annually.

The council voted 3-2 in favor of the tax at Monday night’s work session.
