Kimberly-Clark recalls tampons amid reports of unraveling

(Neenah, WI) – Kimberly-Clark has issued a recall of tampons sold in the United States and Canada, citing quality defects.

The company says that its received reports of its U by Kotex Sleek Regular Absorbancy tampons unraveling or coming apart during removal, requiring medical attention in some cases.  There have also been reports of infections, vaginal irritation, and injury, among other symptoms.

The recall has been connected to specific lots manufactured between October 17, 2016 and October 23, 2018.  Customers can enter their lot numbers on the company website to determine whether their products are affected by the recall.

Any customer with tampons affected by the recall should stop using the product immediately and contact Kimberly-Clark’s customer service team.  Users with symptoms such as pain, bleeding, itching, swelling, infections, and hot flashes should seek medical attention.

No other U by Kotex-brand products are subject to the recall, according to a press release from the company.
