Madison Lake man accused of sucker punching victim at campground

A Madison Lake man is facing charges after allegedly punching another man at a campground.

Miles Jake Wilson, 24, was charged Monday with felony 3rd-degree assault – substantial bodily harm – in  Blue Earth County Court.

A criminal complaint says Wilson, the victim, two other men, and two dogs were at the campground near Madison Lake on October 21 when one of the men decided the dogs should fight to find out which was the “alpha.”

The complaint says the dogs began chasing each other so the victim picked up the larger dog to stop the aggressive behavior.  Court documents say that’s when Wilson sucker-punched the victim in the face, causing him to lose consciousness.

The two witnesses told police they saw Wilson punch the victim.

Wilson told police he was upset at the others for welding near dry leaves.  He admitted to hitting the victim, according to the complaint.
