Man Gets 90 Days for Alleged Rape of MSU Mankato Student

Ashraf Alaaeldin Mohamed Elgamal was given 90 days in jail, with credit for 21 days already served. Elgamal was also fined $500 and given two years probation. If he should violate his probation, he could be sent to jail for another nine months.

According to the complaint, the young woman was out drinking at a party on Pohl Road on January 1st of 2016, and she walked home to her apartment and went to bed, as she was extremely intoxicated. She says she later woke up to find Elgamal raping her.

The victim told police that she told him to stop and tried to push him off, but he allegedly said “bitch stop being selfish” and continued with the assault as she drifted in and out of consciousness.

Afterwards, Elgamal left and the victim’s roommates took her to the hospital. In questioning by police, Elgamal claimed the sex was consensual and said he thought the victim accused him of rape because he has a girlfriend.
