Mankato man allegedly molests 11-year-old girl

(Mankato, MN) – A Mankato man is accused of molesting an 11-year-old girl over the weekend, in what he calls a “crazy-ass accusation.”

Thirty-three-year-old Phillp Oeffler was reported by the mother of the girl who says that Oeffler tried to kiss her, and put his hand down her pants to touch her buttocks and genitals.  Oeffler also tried to coerce the girl into touching his genitals, according to the complaint.  The girl, who is in 5th grade, told police that she and Oeffler had father-daughter relationship, and that the two usually snuggled, but not inappropriately.

Oeffler denied any inappropriate behavior with the girl.  He said that he had been looking for his continuous glucose monitor, which he found underneath the victim, and had to roll her over to retrieve it.

Oeffler is charged  in Blue Earth County with felony 1st degree criminal sexual conduct, which carries a fine of up to $40,000, 30 years in jail, or both.  He is also charged with felony 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct, punishable with up to 25 years in jail, a $35,000 fine or both.
