Mankato-North Mankato named one of the safest cities in nation for trick-or-treating

(Mankato, MN) – Parents can breathe a little easier this year as their ghosts and goblins collect candy on Halloween.

A new report recently released by Your Local Security names the Mankato-North Mankato metro area as the #2 safest for trick-or-treating, nationwide.

Cities were ranked based on four criteria: percentage of trick-or-treaters, number of pedestrian car deaths, and ratio of sex offenders.

Mankato was bested by only one city, Lincoln, Nebraska.

On the flip side, Florida is the most dangerous state for trick-or-treating, with 6 out of 10 cities making the top ten in that category.  The ranking is largely attributed to the abundant senior population, which affects both the percentage of kids, and the pedestrian death rate.
