(Mankato, MN) – Mankato police say a toddler escaped injury after falling out of a moving vehicle while still strapped in a car seat.

In a video captured by dashcam, the 2-year-old girl is seen falling out of the rear driver’s side of the car at about 11:45 a.m. Monday near Hy-Vee at Riverfront Drive.  The vehicle was driven by the child’s mother, according to police.

Chad Mock, the man who posted the video, is seen stopping to assist the child and halting oncoming traffic.  Mock said the parents returned to the scene.  Paramedics and police examined the child and found her to be unharmed.  Police say the child was properly restrained in her car seat, but the child safety seat wasn’t anchored to the vehicle seat.

Mankato Public Safety says they’ll request charges of child endangerment and failing to fasten a child restraint system against the mother.
