Mankato school board approves purchase of former MRCI building

Mankato Area Public Schools will purchase the former MRCI building on Map Drive. 

The school board authorized the purchase at Monday night’s board meeting.  The building was previously the headquarters for MRCI, which consolidated its operations during the pandemic last year.

Pending purchase approval from the Minnesota Department of Education, the building will be used for early childhood education. 

An existing tax levy will be increased to fund the $3.8 million purchase.
