MnDOT announces 2022 state construction projects

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced more than 230 projects to maintain the state’s roads, bridges, and transportation infrastructure.

Significant projects in south central and southwest Minnesota this year include:

• Beginning the final stretch of expanding Highway 14 between New Ulm & Nicollet When finished in 2023, this project will expand 12.5 miles of Highway 14 from two lanes to four lanes and complete a continuous four-lane road between New Ulm and Rochester that will improve capacity, safety and access along the corridor.
• Resurfacing eastbound I-90 lanes from the South Dakota state line to Beaver Creek and the westbound lanes from the South Dakota state line to CR 11; upgrade guardrail and lighting.
• Resurfacing eastbound I-90 from Sherburn to Fairmont; upgrade guardrail and improve drainage
• Resurfacing the Highway 15 eastbound and westbound lanes from the Hwy 15/60 interchange south of Madelia to the Hwy 15/60 interchange north of Madelia; lighting, improve drainage, update guardrail and repair 5 bridges.

MnDOT says motorists should always be prepared to encounter changing road conditions when approaching work zones, obey posted speed limits, and drive undistracted.
