MnDOT: Open water on the Minnesota as construction continues near New Ulm

(Mankato, MN) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation says construction of the Highway 14/15 bridge near New Ulm will result in open water on the Minnesota River throughout the river.

Crews will be using an aeriation system to keep the river from freezing, allowing construction of the piers to continue.  Work on the Minnesota River bridge was delayed earlier this year due to river flooding.  Construction will also continue on the Highway 14/15 interchange.

In a release, MnDOT warned snowmobile riders and the general public to avoid open water.  Buoys will mark areas with equipment and open water.
