North Mankato man accused of assaulting officer with lamp

A North Mankato man is accused of assaulting a police officer.

Aaron Robert Kastning, 37, was arrested Tuesday and charged in Nicollet County District Court with 4th-degree assault against a peace officer, 5th-degree assault, and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors.

According to a press release from North Mankato Police Chief Ross Gullickson, officers were summoned to an address on Pleasant View Trail at 10:53 a.m. for a report of a disturbance.

The release says Kastning refused to cooperate with officers and threw a lamp at one of the policemen, striking him in his arm and shoulder.

The officer wasn’t injured.
