Pharma company recalls infant ibuprofen

(Mankato, MN) – A New Jersey-based company has issued a recall for infant liquid ibuprofen that contains higher-than-advertised concentrations of ibuprofen.

Tris Pharma said three lots of Infants’ Ibuprofen Concentrated Oral Suspension is sold at Walmart, CVS, and Family Dollar.  According to the company, infants who are more susceptible to higher potency levels of the drug could be more vulnerable to renal injury.

Symptoms of infants affected by the higher concentrations of ibuprofen might suffer from nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and gastrointestinal bleeding.

The following lots of 0.5oz bottles have been recalled :

  • National Drug Code: 49035-125-23 Lot: 00717009A with expiration Feb. 2019
  • National Drug Code: 49035-125-23 Lot: 00717015A with expiration April 2019
  • National Drug Code: 49035-125-23 Lot:  00717024A with expiration Aug. 2019
  • National Drug Code: 59779-925-23 Lot: 00717024A with expiration Aug. 2019
  • National Drug Code: 55319-250-23 Lot: 00717024A with expiration Aug. 2019
