Second St reopened, Main St still closed after partial roof collapse

The portion of downtown Mankato’s Second St that was closed for safety reasons reopened Thursday morning. 

Part of Main St remains temporarily closed to vehicles and pedestrians but is expected to reopen late next week.

The roads were closed after a partial roof collapse Tuesday at the Landmark Building on Main St.

Mankato Public Safety responded to the incident just after 4 p.m. and made sure the building was evacuated.  Police and fire then closed off streets and cordoned off an area. 

City staff and engineers are working with the building owner to determine next steps.
