Mayo Clinic’s new children’s center to open Monday

(Mankato, MN) – A new state-of-art facility that will focus on pediatric care will open its doors at Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato on Monday.

The $3.4 million children’s center, located at 101 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, was designed to provide specialty care closer to home.  The clinic will serve as the new home for Mayo Mankato’s Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Department, which was previously housed on the Mankato hospital campus.

The new clinic boasts 22,000 square feet of space, 30 patient exam rooms, two large procedure rooms, and room specifically designed for behavioral health care.

The facility will also be home to the Mankato Child and Family Advocacy Center, a space for law enforcement, child protection and other social service agencies to meet with children who have been abused or are involved in other legal issues.

The new facility will also be the location for pediatric specialty outreach services for specialists from Rochester.  The new children’s center will be located on the same campus as Mayo Clinic Health System’s Mankato Eastridge clinic.

Mayo Clinic Health System Regional Vice President James Hebl M.D. says the facility will allow Mayo to further elevate the level of care children and families in the region receive.
