Special archery hunt Saturday in the East Minnesota River Refuge

(Mankato, MN) – Deer hunters can get a taste of their favorite sport this weekend, ahead of the regular hunting season.

A special archery deer hunt opens Saturday in the East Minnesota River Refuge, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.  The hunt is intended to assist in tracking the deer harvest and deer population.

The refuge is on the east bank of the Minnesota River in Blue Earth and Le Sueur counties.  Hunter registration or application is required prior to hunting.  The hunt is also located entirely on private lands, so hunters must request landowner permission before hunting.

More information is available by calling the DNR’s Nicollet area wildife office at (507) 225-3572.
