STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) —Minnesota officials are investigating after police say a gunman wounded several people at an apartment building in Stillwater and opened fire on officers before they killed him.

Police Chief Brian Mueller says the suspect fired “many” rounds inside and outside of the building Saturday afternoon, injuring at least two or three people. At least two squad cars were hit. Officers then returned fire.

The suspect was pronounced dead at a hospital. The police chief did not comment on a motive or release the suspect’s name during a news conference Saturday night. No officers were injured.
