Suspect, victim in Fairfax service station shooting identified
(Olivia, MN) – The suspect and the victim involved in a shooting at a Fairfax service station have been identified.
The Renville County Sheriff’s office said in a release that Michael J. Klatt, 60, of Fairfax is expected to make his first court appearance in Renville County District Court on Tuesday. Klatt is accused of shooting 55-year-old Kenneth Eckstein of Hector at the shop just before 8 a.m. Friday morning.
Eckstein was reportedly shot in the hand and the face. He was treated at the scene for his injuries, then flown to North Memorial in Robbinsdale. The Renville County Sheriff said Eckstein was undergoing surgery at the time they sent the release identifying him.
The Renville County Sheriff’s office and Fairfax Police Department are continuing to investigate the shooting.
