Tires, icy conditions contribute to semi vs car crash in rural Faribault County

Two men were injured when a semi and a car collided in rural Faribault County Wednesday.

The crash happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Co Rd 17 and Co Rd 2 in rural Frost.

The Faribault County Sheriff’s Office says a car driven by Shane Robert Guptill, 30, of Elmore was eastbound on Co Rd 2 and was unable to stop at the intersection due to icy roads and the condition of his tires.

An unloaded Central Farm Service semi truck driven by Allan Dean White, 50, of Mankato, was northbound on Co Rd 14 and struck Guptill’s car as he was sliding through the intersection, according to crash findings.

Guptill and White both suffered injuries and were transported to United District Hospital in Blue Earth for treatment.

Co Rd 2 has stop signs, but there are no traffic controls on Co Rd 17, according to a press release.
