Tornado confirmed west of North Mankato

(North Mankato, MN)  – The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down west of North Mankato Saturday afternoon.

The tornado was rated an EF-0 by survey crews, who recorded peak winds of 80 miles per hour. The tornado touched down three miles east-northeast of Judson at about 3:08 p.m.  NWS said the twister broke and uprooted hundreds of trees, flattened numerous swaths of corn, and tore the roof off a machine shed. 

The tornado traveled nearly 2.5 miles before lifting three miles west of North Mankato at about 3:13 p.m.

 Storms are possible again late tonight into early tomorrow.
