Update: Alden teen killed in car vs semi crash

(Rochester, MN) – An Alden teen was killed Monday in a car vs. semi crash northwest of Albert Lea, in Freeborn County.

The Minnesota State Patrol says Grace Elizabeth Zimmerman, 16, died at Albert Lea Medical Center following the crash at the intersection of Highway 13 and County Road 14 in Manchester Township.

Roads were listed as wet at the time of the crash, which happened at about 2:47 p.m.

According to the crash report, Zimmerman was eastbound on County Road 14 when her Ford Fiesta collided with a semi driven by Daniel Joseph Petracek, 57, of Waseca, who was northbound on Highway 13.

Petracek wasn’t injured in the crash.

The patrol says both drivers were wearing seat belts.
