Wells man airlifted after crash near Kiester

A Wells man was airlifted with injuries following a crash east of Kiester early Sunday morning.

The Faribault County Sheriff’s Office responded just after 3 a.m. to a crash detection report near 3742 600th Ave.  An SUV was located on its roof in a ditch when deputies arrived on the scene.

Thomas Redig, 23, of Wells, was found unresponsive inside the vehicle, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.  Redig gained consciousness and was removed from the vehicle. Redig received emergency care at the scene and was eventually airlifted to Rochester with unknown injuries.  Police say his injuries are not life-threatening.

Investigators say Redig’s SUV went off-road and hit a field approach, went airborne, then rolled and came to rest on its roof.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation
