(Mankato, MN) – A Winthrop man was seriously injured in a crash with a semi in Sibley County Friday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol says Eric Ronald Pagel, 36, of Winthrop was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries following the crash on Highway 15 north of Winthrop, which happened at about 9:15 a.m.

Pagel was northbound on Highway 15 when the 1999 Chevy K1500 SUV he was driving was rear-ended by a semi while stopped to make a left-hand turn.

The driver of the 2016 International Prostar semi that collided with the SUV was 30-year-old Christopher Herbert Klossner of Sleepy Eye.  Klossner wasn’t injured.

The Sibley County Sheriff, Winthrop Fire Department and Ambulance, and Mayo Aircare assisted at the scene.
