Young man from Waterville killed in Rice County crash; another critically injured
(Rochester, MN) – A Waterville man was killed in Rice County early Wednesday morning.
The Minnesota State Patrol says 27-year-old William Elmer Potter was killed when the Buick sedan he was driving east on Highway 60 west of Faribault was struck by a westbound Dodge Caravan that drifted over the centerline.
The Caravan driver, Andrew Joseph Stein, 40, of Cannon Falls, was critically injured in the crash and is hospitalized at St. Mary’s Rochester with what the state patrol calls life-threatening injuries.
Potter was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The state patrol says its unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The crash time was listed as 4:45 a.m.
